Laura Hendy

Laura has worked within policy formation and programme management in the disaster resilience and climate adaptation spheres for 6 years. At World Jewish Relief, she holds the first position dedicated solely to climate action, as the charity steps up its efforts to reduce its own carbon footprint and to strengthen the climate resilience of its program participants around the world. Laura brings technical experience in disaster risk management and climate change adaptation, developed over several years working for UN agencies and NGOs throughout the Asia-Pacific region including UN ESCAP, UNITAR, UNDP, and RIMES. Here her focus was mostly on research in early warning and preparedness, adaptive social protection, and using regional cooperation to strengthen climate resilience. Laura holds a BA in Geography from the University of Oxford and an MSc in Disaster Risk Management and Climate Change Adaptation from the University of Lund.
