Frequently Asked Questions
OLAM in Motion is a partner benefit for OLAM partner organizations. Partner organizations self-identify as Jewish and/or Israeli, work with vulnerable communities in the developing world, and have affirmed their commitment to OLAM’s vision, mission, shared principles, and partner benefits and commitments. All staff members of OLAM partner organizations are eligible to apply for OLAM in Motion travel subsidies, provided they have the approval of their CEO.
If your organization is not an OLAM partner organization, please contact us to see if you are eligible to become one.
OLAM partner organizations can apply for up to $1500 in subsidies per calendar year, with no one opportunity exceeding $1000. In order to enable as many people as possible to take advantage of these opportunities afforded by OLAM in Motion, we encourage partners to split the $1500 between more than one person.
Applications for subsidies for the fiscal year 2018 will be accepted on a rolling basis from January 31st, 2018 until November 1st, 2018. There are a limited number of subsidies; the earlier in the year you apply, the better!
With the exception of subsidies for bringing a Jewish educator to the field, the person traveling must fill out the application form. In the case of subsidies for bringing a Jewish educator to the field, a staff member of the OLAM partner organization must submit the form. All application forms must have the prior approval of the CEO.
You’ll hear from us within 10 days of your interview unless you are notified otherwise.
OLAM in Motion subsidies are earmarked for economy class flights and/or conference registration fees.
Subsidies DO NOT cover ground travel, cancellation fees, flight class upgrades, room or board, per diem for food, equipment, visas, vaccinations, or any other expenses, travel-related or otherwise.
No. As a general rule, the applicant is directly responsible for booking their own flights and conference registration, unless we explicitly indicate otherwise. Please wait to book flights and/or register for the conference until after receiving written approval from OLAM.
OLAM is also happy to help you set up additional meetings over your trip. In the application form, make sure to indicate whether you’d like us to help facilitate connections to Jewish communal professionals, other Jewish individuals or organizations working in the field, and/or expert advisors.
OLAM in Motion subsidies are designed to enable OLAM partner organizations to build bridges to the Jewish world and to each other.
We ask you to acknowledge OLAM’s role in any organizational activities or deliverables derived from this subsidy. For example, when posting about your attendance at a Jewish conference on social media, please include a line acknowledging that your participation was made possible by OLAM.
In addition, you must share your experience in the OLAM Community Facebook group and complete the reimbursement form within 30 days of returning from your travel.
Within 30 days of return, you MUST submit your completed reimbursement form and upload all requested documents. Approved OLAM in Motion subsidies are awarded in the form of reimbursements, processed retroactively after your travel.
